Like many people living in the "blue states", I experienced a profound sadness and confusion after the 2004 Presidential election.I didn't recognize my United States in the ignorance and intolerance that seemed to take hold here and the bitterness we sowed abroad. I felt compelled to do something to voice an alternative perspective.
The result was a short satirical film called Concerned Lady for America that I co-wrote in the fall of 2004 with my friend and colleague, Greg Beato. I went on to direct this film during the summer of 2005. The story follows the one woman's zealous efforts to "reclaim America for Christ". Although the target of this dark comedy is the Religious Right, the film is not a condemnation of Christianity, but of the social injustice that comes from religious bigotry.
